Reset

hey guys, i need help,
is it possible to reset the keyframer effect. when i work with the keyframer and move my character, i select all frames and press apply fx stack. then i close the fx stack. after i see, its not good and i want to reset all movements, but when i open the fx stack window, the movements change (i think doubling). so i click on reset. all keys are away, but -->the movement still works. So i have to delet all frames and start from the beginning. it takes a long time.

when i have finished an animation, i sometimes see, that a movement is not good. and i want to correct that. but it isnt possible, or is it?

Just use Undo as soon as you finish rendering and decide it's not what you want.

yeap, an Undo (hitting the key) will get back your animlayer the step before your last FX-stack applying,
then tweak/modify your keys and re-apply.

if you're not sure of your (ultimate) keyframing, duplicate your animlayer first, hide the original,
and go on working on your new duplicated-one, so you will keep your "source" inaltered and safe,
just in case later, you decide to change it again.

yes, duplicate the layer is an option. but why change the movement in the layer, if i open the fx stack again, a second time after applying the fx stack. that mean, that i can only one time apply the fx stack.

Don't close the FX stack. But if you mean after you close TVPaint and reopen again, why can't you go backwards? Give it some thought.

he works with the keyframer and places keys. then he clicks in the fxstack on RESET. And all movements in his frames goes to the beginning. but when i try this, all the keys go away, but the movement not. and so i have a movement, but the keys are away.

yes, but between his "FX-Stack Apply" (and the process operating on his selection), and his "FX-Stack Reset" , he precisely made an Undo, (at 3:25, his comment was : "je vais donc retourner en arrière ..." for : "I'll go back by cancelling the last step" or shorter : "I Undo"

in this digital world, and all along your workflow, think "Undo" as one of your best friend ! :)

BTW, you have 2 kinds of undos :

. the undo that affects the working space (arrows blue and orange)
- the undo that affects the FX stack (u and r button)

both are assigned to U and Shit-U.

so, if you undo while your FX stack is opened, you will undo what you've done in the FX stack : so it will reset your key configuration.

i know the Undo button. but it would be easier, if i could just delete the effect, and the move would go away to.
For example: i have an character and i have animated a movement "he goes"(i have animated many frames), then i want that he goes from A to B. I take the keyframer. then sometime(at the end of the animation) i decide to delete the keyframer effect.--->the keys go away, but the problem is, the character still moves from A to B. Here the Undo in the fx stack does not help(because he deletes just the keys and leaves the movement,too). and i have to correct it manual.
maybe there is an solution!?

No, it's not. There's always a maximum number of steps any program could undo, and in TVP's case you can't just pick any previous action out of the stack and delete it without deleting everything else you did after that step.

That's why I always keep a duplicate of a layer I do FX with. That way I could return to the original layer later if I'm not satisfied with the FX or want to change anything else.

ok, i understand. this is also a possibility.
but can you answer me to my question(maybe i dont do it right). When i click on Reset or UNDO in the FX stack, why only the keys go away but the movement in the layer stays.(i mean, neverthless the character goes from A to B)
