HP PSC 1510 Does not Appear to be a Supported Scanner on Mac

I use the HP PSC 1510 "All-In-One" Scanner/Printer/Copier on my Mac. If I have to resort to using pencil and paper for my animations, this is the only scanner available to me. When I attempt to "acquire" it via the File/ICA menu, the software cannot find the scanner. Will my scanner be supported?

Thanks,

Greg Smith

since I shoot my drawings on punched paper via a canon powershot camera (A620),
I never went back to my scanner for a while, (it's taking the dust for about 6 months now)

advantages :
- the pegbar height isn't a problem anymore,
- you can draw on paper with custom format > A4, such as punched 12 field (10.5" x 12.5") paper,
- faster acquisition (via USB2),

disavantages :
- you need more place, and a suitable stand+lights system,
- the TVP canon-plugin needs still a "Lock/Unlock AF " function, to lock the Focus setting during a grab session.

ps : I am on PC, and I don't know if this canon-plugin is also available for the mac-users.

ps2 : sorry Greg to run over your question, I haven't the answer to it ...

Hi Greg,

go to your "Application" folder and launch "Image Capture".
If your scanner doesn't show up there, it's really in the hands of your scanner manufacturer to provide a driver.
If it does work in ImageCapture but not in TVP, be sure to check you have the latest version of TVP (the demo version).

Eric:

I didn't think that the "Image Capture" software for Mac was aimed at scanners, but, rather digital video capture devices. Are you saying that any supported Mac scanner should appear when this application is launched?

Thanks,

Greg Smith

Yes, the "Image Capture" application works for scanners.
Every supported scanner should show up there.

If your scanner isn't supported, you can try VueScan http://www.hamrick.com, sure it's payware, but still cheaper than buying a new scanner...
