So I've been working with the 64bit version for a few hours now;
One thing I need to get off my chest: life is hard without Quicktime export!

Thank you for your first feedback about TVPaint Animation 10 T_To
Apple decides to stop support on Quicktime... That's why there is an Internal AVI now, which does not depends on any codec, whatever your OS is

Is that the "AVI (DirectShow)" option?

Yes.

No, the internal AVI export is ths simple "AVI" format. It works on every OS.
"Avi (DirectShow)" uses external plugins separately installed on your computers (DirectShow plugins). This one works only on Windows.

It's explained there :

Thanks Apple ...
So at this time the quicktime export is only in the 32bits version of TVPaint Animation on Mac and PC. (so you should have it Markus)

Thought I'd just say I love, love, LOVE the new TVPaint Animation 10!
The changes to the timeline are the best - it reminds me of After Effects with the icons (display, lock, light table etc) which is a good thing. The 'new layer' feature is a joy to use as is the new move, copy images along the timeline feature.
The groups function I will use a lot as it will speed up my workflow immensely.
Overall, software feel so much slicker and faster on my system - its a dream!
I was also a bit freaked out that Quicktime export isn't there anymore. And I can't find TIFF sequence export either?
But I've just tried the AVI (DirectShow) export with the Uncompressed BRG32 setting and then imported into After Effects (which I use a lot) and it works perfectly so I'll just start using this workflow from now on.
Hats off to the development team for an awesome new release!
Thanks for this warm feedback.
note :
Use the TVPaint AVI (not the direct show one !!), it's better, working on all OS.
Quicktime export will stay at the moment on the 32 bits versions, but we can't do it on the 64 bits versions, Apple ...
And yes, TVPaint is more responding and faster on the 64 bits OS
And I can't find TIFF sequence export either?
Should be there I think. I will take a look.

That is crazy (Apple). Why ruin/abandon a great software like Quicktime ?

OK - does that mean TVP in 64 bit will not export to QT even on a Mac (once I have an Intel Mac)?
In that case, how do I get my work into FinalCutExpress - which doesn't import AVI ...

Unless Apple changes his mind ...

Can it import image sequences ?
I might be wrong, but at the moment, quicktime (when started outside TVPaint) should be able to read and compress the TVPaint uncompressed AVI file and turn it in .mov.
It's a temporary solution. ok ... but our internal AVI has several advantages :
- Can be with or without compression on all OS (Mac PC and Linux)
- Can be opened and recompressed with many software.
- Can be tweaked by us on demand, (if necessary). So no more dependancy on Quicktime, Directshow or other specific codecs. If there is a problem, we can fix it ourselves

I'm on a PC and like to export my TVPaint animations out as uncompressed files to use in other software (after effects, AVID etc)
For me, it's not crucial that I have an AVI that works on all OS as I always master my final projects from other software as an uncompressed TIFF sequence or as an AVID Quicktime files (if it's for broadcast).
I was going to use the AVI(DirectShow) as it has an option for 'uncompressed' where as the normal AVI doesn't seem to?
I noticed that the normal AVI setting has a 'compression' slider that only goes down to '1' and not '0'.
Do you know if this is the same as uncompressed at this setting?
I guess at '1' there will be minimal compression anyway.

quite strange, I have this here : (from 0 to 100 : 100 = best quality, such as in jpg settings)

ok, I will use this setting. I had tried exporting out a test AVI at both '1' and '100' and they both created an AVI that was 73.8mb so was getting confused. Then the same clip as an AVI (DirectShow) uncompressed file was 73.9mb.
However, all three look exactly the same (sharp and perfect)
