Hi, Everyone,
IF I am on the right track, I need to go to another software program like After Effects to have no background behind my subject (and this is called compositing....?)
What I think I would like to do is this: Scan in a drawing, say, in graphite, on white paper;
Is there a setting in TVP10 that makes the white transparent? ( I've been searching forums and the manual but can't locate it - maybe I don't know the right word for it?)
If there is a setting that makes white transparent, then my drawing can be on it's own layer, and my background painting layer will show behind it - yes?
And if the above two things are true, does this effect a work-around for compositing?(or am I in the wrong boat?)
( and not having to spend More $ to get AE would be a very goood thing! )

Look into the FX > Colors > Scan Cleaner. It will do the job much better than the Adobe suite.
There should be many topics covering this in the forum.

basically, for a standard compositing, everything you'll need is already "in the box" ,
so, you don't really need to purchase AE or other pricey compositing software to mix animations and BG,
except if you are planning for a killing "3D" moving camera, which can't be bone actually in tvpa.

imo, save your money, and lets go and animate !

This is just what I was hoping to hear about Adobe .so, you don't really need to purchase AE or other pricey compositing software to mix animations and BG,
I have NO plans for a 3D moving camera - heaven forbid! 2D and me all the way

In the forums, will I be looking for the words FX and Scan Cleaner and colours?

So this is, sort of, what compositing is, I'm thinking?

I use Anime Studio Pro for 3D camera stuff (very rare that I need it anyway). Otherwise, TVP does just about everything you need for animation compositing.

It's a vector animation program, like Flash or Toonboom.

Ah HA! Nice to know - I have Flash, CCS5 - all I need?

Yeah, you probably don't need Anime Studio then... but TVPaint is better than all of 'em!
