Here is a sneak peek at a comic I am currently working on... All made in TVPaint ofcourse.

This is not an usual way to draw comic, but this is original. That's a little hard to read anyway.
But I like your drawings.

The comic isn't supposed to be read as a solely logical interpretation, but more speak to the intuitive mind, where as one gathers the information and thus comes up with their (more or less) own meaning of the story. So if you just like the drawings, that's also nice.

Oh, did I forget to mention that TVPaint is super-ultra cool to make all of this in?

Interesting. I'd say this is not so much a comic but something like concrete poetry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concrete_poetry), while on the stylistic side it reminds me of the elaborate stuff some students carve into their desks (funny that this area of art so far never has been recognised academically). Good combination.

Thanks Slowtiger, I greatly appreciate your kind words, the link, and the fact for bringing it to my attention. I guess that sometimes the most obvious can be the least observed, if you know what I'm going at. ; )

wow i like that!
i find the comic, though beautifully drawn, pretty unreadable but this is very easy to take! nice work.
care to share how you went about creating that? did you use the CTRL function or the autopaint function or was it all old fashioned handwork?

Hi Peter,

Just good old fashioned handwork... ; ) Yes, I thought that it would be a well-deserved break from the apparent chaos one faces with the static panels, and I could imagine it could be quite fun to see it roll on one's iPad and shake it about, as if there was some kind of little heart-like bug inside of it trying to get out. It runs on 30 fps, but I actually considered 60, to give it a more "believable" presence. But then again if I had to make 4-5 more like those, I could just as well make a short-film. ; )

When it comes to the comic, it isn't supposed to speak primarily to the rational brain - it is more meant as an experience or a mood as opposed to a panel 1, 2, 3 - 'happy man walks delightful over to his red car'. ; ) There is a clear pattern laid in there, but I don't expect the viewer to be aware of this, those traits and details are conjured up by me, but if I sat and explained in detail their meaning, it would open up a whole other dimension of the story... But in some way, that would remove some of the surrealism of it - or would it? And no, I am not going to make a voice-over on this one. ; ) I like to break some rules and let the reader make their own conclusion, instead of me harshly dictating what one should think and feel. Everybody see things from their perspective anyways, so why not jump on that plane. ; ) But don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the classic readable story-structure - I just find it very fulfilling to let my subconscience lose and see where it takes me - and this one is a piece of fresh air for me. If one wants something that's readable, there's plenty of other comics out there that does just that, and if that is what one wants - then this one is not for that one. But the drawings are fun and engaging, then one can always enjoy those I guess. The story of this whole thing has it's origins in spirituality, philosophy, psychology and even body-therapy and a heavy dose of your basic absolute nonsense about nothing? - it's the classic Hero's Journey in black, white and red.

Hmm, thanks Peter - what I just wrote, is what I tend to bare under my skin with this project, it's great to actually see what happens when I try to verbalize some of it. Although I'm very clear on what the story is about and what it is I want to tell with it - It still hasn't reached my awareness, what it REALLY is all about - maybe in 10 years time (or maybe next week - who knows) I will sit back with a more experienced self and look upon it and think - 'Aaahh!' But until then I'm just in it for the ride.
