Cross-platform and version compatibility Questions

Post by bleupencil »

Hi TVPainters,

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find an appropriate answer in my forum search this time...

I am working with another person on a project with a very tight time frame so wanted to get software issues sorted. She will purchase TVP for Mac soon, it will be the latest version probably. We will have to exchange files, so I wanted to know:

- Will our files be usable on both Mac and PC?

- I am using version 9.5, would we still be able to swap files, or do I need to upgrade?

- If I need to upgrade, will I need to have a new dongle shipped to me? And how long will it take? We need to start animating in about two weeks from now.

I am prepared to upgrade if I have to, but was just wondering if the expense was worth it/necessary as I'm functioning quite well on my own at the moment.

Thanks in advance :)
Amanda.

You can exchange files between 9.x and 10.x without problems, on any platforms.
Obviously, new features which are only in 10.x will be ignored by 9.x (just ignored, won't do any harm).

If you upgrade you will get a link to download the new version, and then an unlock code by email.
No new dongle required.

Good luck with your project.

Hey now!

Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd make this one a little more complete:

Is it possible to work on a project in both the Pro and the Standard version, or would there be issues? Or will the Pro features just be ignored in the Standard version, like with 10.x vs 9.x?

Correct ! :)

So, don't fear to use Standard and Pro versions at the same time.
