This is a problem that has been around for a long time here at the HKU (Netherlands.)

when trying to create a customtool through the toolbin (grab current tool) or by trying to create a new tool in a new custom panel
i get these errors: and no custom panels are created.

i was hoping to sit it out till we get v10 but its uncertain when that will be.

Hmmm...

The custom brushes are temporary saved in your preferences, in the Users > Library > tvp animation.

Libraries are very protected by Apple, especially in recent versions (10.7, 10.8 ). So, I suppose your students don't have any admin rights and so, maybe they are not allowed to write anything in TVPaint's library...

i'll take this info to the systech (Roderique) see what he has to say.
