"Flip Book + Out of Pegs"?

Post by neonnoodle »

Hello everyone! I am excited to be learning how to use all the features of TVPaint. The interface is intimidating, a bit like trying to fly a plane.
When I go to keyboard shortcuts, I see Preview: Flip Book + Out of Pegs. What does this function do? I assigned it to a key but when I press it, I can't see what's happening.

Here is my info:
Windows 7x64
TVPaint Pro 10.0.11 x64 (it just arrived yesterday!)

Hello, Zoe and greetings. You have stumbled upon a spectacular feature, called "off pegging". See if you can do some digging on the subject; look in the manual or look up some threads on the subject. If this gets you nowhere, come back and someone will help you out. It's kind of complex to explain, but off pegging works with your light table and helps you virtually take a previous drawing off its pegs (registration) so that you can virtually move it to a new position and trace it.

Hello Paul! Thanks for your welcome. I will clarify one thing: I reviewed the Out of Pegs feature in the manual and played with it a bit in the Light Table Panel -- however, I can't see the function of the hotkey, or why it is grouped among the Flip Book settings.

One last guess -- does this feature toggle whether the out-of-pegs orientation is being shown when the flipbook is flipped? I.e., if it's on, then pressing Flip Book will show you the drawings in their altered out-of-pegs state; and if it's off, Flip Book will show the drawings as they originally are?

The "Flip Book + Out of Pegs" Should flip you drawings which is selected in the Lighttable in the preview FPS. and it should flip them out of pegs.
But as far as I know this function is not working yet. I have reported this to the developers and I hope it will be fixed in the next update.
So for now you should not spend time on "Flip Book + Out of Pegs", because the feature is not working yet.

Thank you, Mads. That seems to explain why the hotkey didn't seem to be activating anything yet.

For now I'm using the "roll.ahk" Autohotkey script which tigerknight posted. This is the only thing which seems to flip the drawings in a useful way for me! It's the closest to rolling on paper, and being able to stop anywhere along the way to make a small change. Flip Book is a good feature but not as good as tigerknight's solution.

Well, we are now focusing on the CTN Expo event, so feel free to send us a reminder just after, if ever you don't have the bugfix in the next software versions. :)
