Hi, this is my first post.

I'm running TVP 10 Standard on Windows XP 32 bit. And it works great, but my computer is from 2005 and it's time to upgrade.

At my school, I know there have been lots of little annoying problems with the new 64 bit TVP Pro for Mac. Like all preferences disappearing when you close the program, or the wacom eraser not being recognized (hiding the dock seemed to fix that one), or hotkeys being limited on what you can customize (still having problems getting free resize to work with a tablet button), or even having to open the files a special way (right click and "open with tvp"). With Fabrice's help, we figured out a lot of solutions in our three training days.

So my question is: Is anyone running TVP 10 Standard or Pro on a 64 bit version of Windows 7 or 8? I'd like to know if you are having any problems with it. I'm getting ready to buy a laptop, and since TVP is the most important program I use, I'm basing my computer purchase around it more than any other factor.

I know the developers are still looking at Windows 8. I'm just looking for any individuals who have taken the plunge themselves, into 7 or 8.

In fact, this is not a bug, but a preference asked by many schools. Students take the habit to completely change the interface and when the lessons on TVPaint arrive, students are lost because their own interface is different.
So, if you want to keep your own preferences, go to the menu Edit > Preferences > Startup > Last project settings.

Yes, this is also a weird problem that we still try to fix. You cna also drag and drop the file to TVPaint to open it.

A lot of people here are using the 64 bit version on Windows. The problems you get on Mac are completely different because half of the code of TVPaint uses another code (cocoa) to be compatible on the Mac and that's why we encounter some strange behavior.

I just take the liberty to warn you about some details with the 64 bit version on Windows :
• no possibility to export in Quicktime (Apple does not support the 64 bit version)
• no possibility to scan directly from TVPaint (Twain does not work in 64 bit)

But those problems don't come from TVPaint, but from Windows.

I advise you to use the Windows 7. We didn't finish all our tests with Windows 8 and we cannot guarantee a 100% compatibility.

You can change this in the preferences, in the last tab "startup", by using the option : "last used configuration".

yes, it's a specific issue on 64 bits Macs.
hidding the dock is the only way now to avoid this.
It's a compatibility problem between the OS and Wacoms, we don't know yet how to fix it.
(I have seen the same bug on some other programs)

just assign the "z" key to your wacom button. then you should be able to resize.

yep, that one need a bugfix.

Everything you have seen at Calarts during the 3 days was shown on my windows 7 64 bits.

nb : the problems you mention here are Mac 64 bits specific and doesn't occur on Windows or Mac 32 bits.

Mads Jul, here in the forum does use Windows 8, but I don't know if it's 32 bits or 64 bits.

I run TVPaint 10 on Win7 64 Bit since a year and don't have any special problems due to that config. I installed TVP 64Bit and 32Bit parallel and use the 32Bit in case of import or export Quicktime files or when I need to scan directly into TVPaint. I also don't have any problems running that two versions the same time.
