64-bit advantages in real-life

Hello,
I know what 64-bits applications are good for, but I'm interested to hear specifically regarding tvpa in 64-bits, is the performance improvement very noticeable?
I'm asking because I want to buy a licence for tvpa10 (Im tried of working from school), and the professional edition student price is still expensive for me.
64-bit support is the most important feature in the professional edition, for me. Everything else, I think I can live without, cause Im doing all editing and comp/fx in after effects. Do you find it very noticeable? In playback speed maybe?
Im working on projects usually at full-hd, sometimes bigger when a camera motion is involved, and with several layers, around 10 in average. I have 16-gb ram, so 64-bits will be used.

I know its a problematic question, but its almost 50% price difference. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks

I'd like to learn this too!

I'm running Win7 Home Premium, i7 core, 12gb RAM.

On Windows and Linux, I know you earn at least 25% of accuracy.

On Mac, I must admit that the difference is not that visible. You mainly earn time on import and saves.
Oferk, the better way to see the difference, is the download of the trail version : you can test both 32 and 64 bit and see the difference :)

right! I didn't even think about it :) I have enough files to test.
Thanks

I see two advantages (I'm using Windows and Ubuntu) : bigger resolutions can be used more easily, and it's 20%~25% faster for calculations, proxy, etc ...

I tested a few very high res animations with lots of layers, and the playback was smooth with both versions. I then tried some transformations and changing the project size, and it actually performed better in the 32-bit version.

EDIT: I tested again now, and upped the resolution to 4000 x 3000 pixels, just for testing. The 64-bit version played the animation smoother and faster. The 32-bit managed to play it fairly well after a few loops.

Once you are using more memory than what a 32-bit machine can handle (4G), you will really see the difference in performance, as TVPaint won't need to use swap as much.

Of course, I know. The question is how often will it happen for my usage of tvpaint and wether the difference is significant for me. I will do some more tests and then decide.

That's the wise way to decide, from real world data, not from assumptions.
