In the new tutorial on water color brushes, I found some new ways of painting - great tutorial! My question is: Is there a feature somewhere that we can use to make the water feature really drip?

No, don't think so, closest you can get is to kind of simulate it with the sponge and water tools.

I am pretty sure it's been discussed here before... Making a drippy effect isn't trivial either

No,not trivial. I love the drips. In Painter, there is a new-ish and quite lovely effect that really drips nicely, with the right settings. Includes paper porosity, too!

Yeah, I've played with that in Painter, back when I was using it (didn't like Painter overall, very poor performance).

I find Painter to be rather cumbersome and slow, but I do like some of the effects the brushes have. I could always use it for background painting and import into TVP, though, couldn't I?

Of course, just export from Painter as PNG or TIFF (don't use JPG, you'll lose image quality)

Don't forget the palette knife tool. Not quite a drip but still a great effect when combines with water color painting. I use it all the time.
