Hey -
Can anyone tell me how I import my own custom image icon for my tools? I know it can be done but I have forgotten how to do it.
Cheers,
Hilary

Use search by entering "create icon" and you get plenty of material. I happened to find this one which explains it pretty well

Hey Paul
I read through those instructions on the previous post. I followed them but I get a pull down menu when I LMB on the TOOL tab? Am I pushing the wrong thing - if not which option am I supposed to chose?
Thanks in Advance

I am flummoxed! There is supposed to be a tool tab between the "List" and the "A color" tab; in that space between those two. I've never seen this
What version of TVPaint are you on?
EDIT: Besides, I have no Idea how "Tool:" appeared in the first line

I think the problem is that you will only see the option to save a tool icon if you already have grabbed some kind of CUTBRUSH. If you try to edit a button while in the MIDDLE OF GRABBING A CUTBRUSH for instance, you would not yet have completed capturing a cutbrush icon to save... thus the tool icon assignment option isn't available.
To make a custom icon you need to (1) complete the capture of a cutbrush, (2)then right-click on the button which needs the icon, (3)then press the TOOL button inside the button command list window which will turn your cutbrush into an assigned icon, (4)then save the button.

Sven, I have never ever come upon a scenario in which that tool button would be missing. Have you?

I've never had it happen, but in testing I found that if you start to grab a cutbrush (full-screen crosshair) but don't complete the capture of the cutbrush and instead right-click to open the edit button command list window, you will find that the tool button is missing - because
there is no current, active tool. There has to be some tool selected to generate the icon from.
I suppose the Button Edit interface should trap for the
absence of an active tool and warn the user to exit, select a tool, then re-enter the Button Edit interface... but, as you say, that specific situation is so rare no one (except maybe hilary) has run into it.

Good catch and I like your icon.

Thanks Sven and Paul -
FYI I am on 10.0.11. It didn't quite work the way you described but I did have to make my custom brush (cut brush? think this is the same thing). I just clicked on 'grab tool with colour' - see my attached jpeg. Maybe it is different because I am changing the icons on existing tools not making a new one..oh but wait re reading what you wrote that shouldn't be the case. Anyway success!
