load video with sound?

hi all-
when i'm animating i always want to reference my previously-made animatic within my tvp animation project. i load the animatic into tvp as a guide layer so i know how long the sequence is and where stuff is happening in time. however- usually there is sound to consider too, but since (i think) tvp can't use the sound in a video, i must create a .wav file from the animatic, then load both the animatic and the new .wav into the tvp project separately and then sync them both up again. so in effect i work hard on visual and audio syncs to create the animatic, then when i want to create the animation matching the animatic i have to un-sync the animatic's picture and audio to bring both into tvp, only to try and sync them up again in tvp, and hope i haven't created new sync errors.
my above method reminds me of airline passengers carefully packing at home, only to be required by airport security to unpack and undress, then hurriedly dress and pack again to catch their plane... (i suspect some sadistic conspiracy here...)
surely there's a better way than i've found, yes? referencing picture with sound must be a very common need for all the tvp users...
thanks!
