TVPaint vs. AfterEffects

Hello!
I'm an animator new to TVPaint, and undertaking a Master of Animation at St Joost in Breda, The Netherlands. We are exploring TVPaint and I want to take advantage of it as much as possible, but am wondering how it fits next to the other software we are also using, After Effects.
So my question, if you would be so kind, is:

What do you think TVPaint does best, and what would you use it for rather than AfterEffects?

I'm looking for specific tasks, such as multiplying animated loops around the screen, keyframing alpha levels, compositing various layers of imported image sequences, or any other tricks you love doing in one software over the other!

Thanks!

A topic was created not so long ago here : http://forum.tvpaint.com/viewtopic.php? ... cts#p61650" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You should find some answer here.

But anyway, the main difference between the both software :
• After effect = post-production, editing, etc...
• TVPaint Animation = 2D animation software

Their use is totally different, even if both have things in common.
