Sound playback issue

using tvpaint 10.5 on osx several students (but not all) experience a noticable pitch change (higher) when playing the animation in tvpaint.
however when exporting a quicktime the pitch is right.
i cannot figure out what the problem is.
any suggestions?

Did they change the framerate of their project ?

no they all work in 25fps and didn't change the framerate.
in one case the problem was solved by exporting the quicktime, in the exported quicktime the pitch sounded right. then when importing this back in as sound layer the playback was right.
but in another case this didn't work.
another case:
here the audio was ripped from a youtube movie to a mp3 at 44.1 khz
this mp3 at 44.1khz casued problems in playback, to highly pitched
the same sound as a 48khz WAV files played back right in tvpaint

Check OSX' Audio-MIDI-Setup. The overall sample rate of system and TVP should always be the same.

YES , that helps.
I've had the same issue reported by students using TVPaint on Mac and this is the answer I give them (check the settings in Audio Midi Setup) , but it took me a long time to figure it out. This should be clearly noted to Mac users in the TVPaint User Manual and in the 'Getting Started' guide . At present there is no way for the new user to know that they need to check that their OSX Audio Midi Setup is set to the same sample rate as TVPaint's sound prefs.
The Audio Midi Setup is found in the Utilities folder in Mac OS.
