Playback and distort quality

Kind of different, but related issues. When I rotate a brush, I need to set it to best quality or it looks all pixelated. Every time I go back to the tool, it has reset to none. so I have to set it to best each time. Is there a way to keep that locked on best always? Why would anyone not want it on best ever anyway?
As regards playback, like the brush tool quality, when I playback I notice that it goes into a lower resolution mode which is especially noticeable when I am zoomed in close on the image. Is there a way to set it to render at a higher quality for those who have more powerful graphics cards? Editing programs routinely have this option. Does TVPaint?

Try to check "Keep" when you cut out a new brush. It keeps all the information about your current brush (be careful, it also keeps the rotation etc.)
That way if your current brush is set to "best" your new brush will be set to "best" also automatically.

You can change the quality under Windows->Settings->preview settings

Why would anyone not want it on best ever anyway?
'Best' is only best for rotating colored images, for rotating lines 'medium' is a better option.
Best is slower because its algorithm is more complex (this can be a problem when using it in a custombrush drawing tool)
and it also can give an outline artifact which you don't get with medium. This tends to be especially noticeable with linedrawings.
Also 'none' can be very usefull in certain situations because it prevents the subpixel adjustments that tvpaint calculates when in 'medium' mode, to put it simple: the pixels stay "hard"
but this applies only when you don't need resizing or rotating.
i agree though that the current default is debatable, at least you should be able to choose your preferred default.
As Paul pointed out, Keep is not really the solution here because it keeps ALL parameters.
(luckily the development team always pays close attention to the requests on this forum so we can hope
)

Good tips again. Thanks. My Tool palette has another option not pictured in Furushil's pic. i have "brush smooth" as well, so I ticked that and anti aliasing and it works great.

For the preview quality (which I could not find info about because I searched for "playback quality") I upped it to 100% and ticked the box "full quality preview", but it still looks just the same. Maybe that's just as good as it gets.
(not sure why the image is appearing twice. Can't fix that, but anyway...)

I think, you have to restart the project or TVpaint completely to see the change. (You have probably found out by now)

There is also that Playback Quality button that works instantly floating around this forum somewhere, but for the life of me I can't find it. Has that thread been removed?
Edit: Pardon me,
here it is.

Thanks for that button. Did not realize I needed to restart, but I guess not with the button. Having set it to full quality preview, it still does not play at what I would call full quality, but it's better. I guess that's the best it does, or is there some other adjustment as well to avoid the image getting a little pixelated?

was your size (zoom) preview at 1/1 (100%), or anything else smaller or larger ?

It is zoomed in, so it should pixelate, but still, when I stop running, it is much clearer than when it is running.
