Imported footage glitchy

Hi friends,This is confusing. So when I import footage (.mov file) into a new layer or from the file drop down menu,TVP brings my fames into a new layer but it's often jumbled. In other words, the frames are sometimes in order, and sometimes not. On the same scene. Not sure how to fully explain this except to say the glitch is a bit organic.

Sometimes it's there when I hit play and the imported scene plays through normally but will suddenly start to mix the frames up randomly and show a disjointed playback where say around 50% of the frames are out of order and randomly placed. When I scroll though with the cursor on the timeline, it will sometimes play normally and sometimes exhibit the glitch. When I frame by frame it is equally unpredictable. However, when I render it, it seems to play normally.

I don't have any other programs running. Got lots of RAM and the files are not particularly large and they are the same frame rate and size. This doesn't happen with animation generated inTVP even if it's on one's. It's just with the imported footage. Even the frame thumbnails on the exploded timeline view are different from what's on the playback screen. And it just get's worse each time it plays. Like in Premiere, if you let it play, it get's better. On this glitch, the first playback works, and then it jumbles the order and then it seems to settle into a locked jumbles. In other words, once it scrambles, it seems to stay that way. Then when I go frame by frame forward, it's all in order. But when I go frame by frame backward, it's out of order again.

Cannot seem to pin down what the issue is. Help please!

Hello vishvakarma !

Can you tell us what version of TVPaint Animation you're using ? 10.X.Y ? 11 ? Standard or Professional (in this case, 32-bits or 64-bits ?) ?
Can you also tell us what OS are you using ? (Windows, Mac OS, Linux).

We can't really help you if we don't have all of these informations :x

I just stumbled across the same glitch three times in a row, the imported footage were all .mov files. I tried both importing the footage as a layer and as a new project, the result is the same. Is it possibly a bad format to import? These .mov files were exported from AE for me by someone else, and I don't know if there was a particular codec used.

You should be able to gather codec information about that file by opening "information" on OSX or "attributes" on Win.

Oh yes, thank you! It says the codecs used were H264, Linear PCM, Timecode. Could any of them be the culprit?

No, that's a standard encoding and should work. I've never experienced the behaviour you describe, so I can only guess the files are damaged in a small, subtle way. Do they play in other programs? If so, they should do in TVP as well.
