Using Sketchbook Pro with Tv Paint

Post by lchunleo »

hi everyone,

i am new to Tvpaint and have been using Sketchbook Pro Flipbook to do simple animation. i like the interface of Sketchook Pro but its limitation in animation makes me wish to explore more on real animation software. i am thinking along this line , create the one layer animation in SB pro with all the animations and then import as image files into TvPaint. Hence, basically i wish to use SB Pro as my drawing and animation and painting and used Tv paint more for integrated works such as multiple layers, camera etc. Is this doable?

my intent is to create those japanese animation, which i need to have multiple camera view and camera effects, e.g. panning, multiple layers for different characters/objects.

Sorry am new to animation as well.

To create animation layers in Sketchbook Pro and then import those as an image sequence to TVPaint is doable , but to me it is redundant. Any pen/pencil/brush tool you have in Sketchbook has an equivalent tool (and more !) in TVPaint , so there is no reason to animate in Sketchbook , then import the drawings to TVPaint for finishing (coloring, effects, camera moves , etc.) .

I agree that the simple, clean interface of Sketchbook is very nice , but don't neglect the "Rooms" option in TVPaint that allows you to set up different workspaces. You can set up your Animation Room (workspace) to have the timeline and most of the interface hidden (which can be toggled on and off with a keyboard shortcut) and only have a blank drawing canvas and a simple toolbar with your most commonly used tools , so the animation workspace is clean and open . All other toolbars are stored in the side bins/drawers and can be easily accessed if needed or toggle back and forth to a different Room if other tools are needed , then toggle back to the Animation Room when you resume animating. Even the basic toolbar of your most-used tools can be minimized , so you have just the open canvas view .

Sorry for this late reply and appreciation. Thank you very much. now, i really appreciate what Tvpaint can do and gradually like it though i admit i was a very apprehensive about the many many buttons and difficult concept of operation..have to admit that it has a bit steep learning curve due to its many capabilities and features. Thank you very much :D
