Problems with opening files after new layers were added

i am currently using "TV Paint 10.5.5-32 bits en Feb 6 2014" since three weeks.
I have a big problem with opening some files.
Whenever i open a certain file TVPaint just opens itself without acccesing the file at all - i just shows an empty canvas and it does not even start to load the images inside the TVpaint file. Just as it would if you open TVpaint without loading a TVpaint file.
Because i have three backupfiles i can pinpoint the moment where the files suddenly became unopenable - i added some new layers (where i copied and transformed some of my existing animations that i had done in TVPaint)
The sequence is two minutes long, and i use a imported video to rotoscopy. While i could use a backupfile ( which would mean to looase 30 minutes of hard work) this problem has happened to me before - last time it happened when i imported an file with "preload" now i have just copied some existing animations and layered them, so that one person was dancing with itself.
I would really want to acces my files, because otherwise i would lose some of my work. Also i would like to add that i also cant acces my last two backupfiles either. I there a workaround ? I am currently a little bit afraid to use TVpaint anymore- i must honestly say. Because if i always have to be afraid that if i do something new my whole work could be lost....
best regards from austria.
p.s
i have a legit version but i am not able to update to a better TVPaint 10 Version.
