brush cannot catch up with cursor in the 64bit version

Since I updated to OSX 10.11 recently and I am still experiencing the same brush lag problem like in every other OSX version, I thought it is time to make some tests.
The problem is that when I draw long lines fast, the line cannot quite catch up with the cursor while drawing.
The displayed brush also cannot catch up with the cursor when I just move the cursor around.

There is actually a noticeable difference between TVPaint 11.0.2 Pro 32bit and TVPaint 11.0.2 Pro 64bit. In the 32 bit version the stroke catches up with the cursor quite alright but in the 64 bit version it is more noticeable.

In this video here I am using my trackpad to move the cursor around (no Wacom drivers involved here):
TVPaint Pro 11.0.2 64bit:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7bxluo21vj2gb ... t.mov?dl=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And in this video I am also using the trackpad but the TVPaint Pro 11.0.2 32bit version:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/oykjk2sz6aqly ... t.mov?dl=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As you can see the brush catches up in the 32bit version quite better than in the 64bit version.

Here is also a video where I try to draw some lines in the TVPaint Pro 11.0.2 64bit version (with my Intuos4 tablet):

Does it happen when you are in fullscreen mode ?

There is no difference between fullscreen and window mode. The brush still cannot catch up.
How is it on your computer, does the brush catch up and stay underneath the cursor all the time?

This behaviour is not new. From memory, it has been always the case on Mac.

Well, let me know if I should test something else.
It would be great if the brush could respond quicker and catch up with the cursor in the 64bit version.

I wonder if it occurs on a fresh new Mac OS installation.
I remember we had bugs linked to the MacOS upgrade process only.

It's worth the test, but I don't think so : the bug would be visible on the 32 bit version too.

Plus, I've made a test with artrage and it's even worse :s
I also wanted to make a test with Gimp, but it refuses to work on Capitan...

The TVpaint 11.0.3 update is really great. So many good things were added or got fixed :shock: .

But for me the brush lag still persists :( . I also described the lag here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9427" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I recorded again two videos with TVPaint pro 11.0.3 64bit and Photoshop CS5 (I think Photoshop is 32bit)

TVpaint: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uuj2zeq3o6jce ... t.mov?dl=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Photoshop: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cfbyqdtib7oje ... p.mov?dl=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There is no difference between fullscreen mode and window mode in my case. The brush cannot keep up with the cursor in any mode.
Also it has nothing to do with wacom because when I use the trackpad the same issue occurs.

I hope the screen capture are somehow helpful.

Damn, it's fixed on all of our Mac here ... :(
We will check your videos.
What is your OS and driver version ? is it upgraded from an old OS ?

I noticed that the dropbox video files are in low resolution and many frames are missing. The lag is actually more noticeable than in the dropbox link. I can send you the two video files directly if you like (both are under 1MB).

My OS is, yes upgraded from the previous version:

I updated the Wacom drivers today to 6.3.15-3

in fact, we don't speak about the same issue.

We were speaking about this lag (missing points) :
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9223#p84907" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(which is fixed :!: >> big relief !! )

As Fabrice said, there's a misconception about the "Lag".
What we refer as the "lag when drawing" is what was described in this topic and it was a loss of informations when drawing.

What you are describing is known, and is present everywhere on Macs, even on something as basic as the FireGestures firefox extension, which uses mouse movements to perform basic actions : on Mac, the line is always more behind the cursor than on Windows.
What we've done in 11.0.3 should help reduce this delay, but I don't think we can totally remove it.

However, I'd like to have the video files, it would help us a lot. Can you send them to me via email (thierry.cantet[@]tvpaint[.]fr) ?

You are right it is a different issue.
I'm sorry I should have posted the videos in my original thread.
