Playing back camera view

When I chose to play back in camera view, the scene changes size. That is, I have my scene reduced in size so that I have space around it for panels, but when I playback in camera view, the image pops to fill the entire black area, which means under all the panels. This makes it hard to see the scene. Is there a way to view in camera view mode, but maintaining the image size on the screen?

Yes you're right : when playing with camera view enable, it automatically fits the window area, even if "auto fit" is disable.

Yeah, it is related. Basically, better control over the playback would be good. Any chance of that?

Another related question. When the scene is not playing, I can see the camera position, but when I play, depending on the view mode, I either get the enlarged camera view, or I get the entire scene, without any reference to the camera. That is, the camera frame lines disappear while playing. Is there a way to maintain those lines while playing back so that I can at least see the frame lines as a guide during playback?
