TVPaint version of Flash Symbols

Post by litterblocks »

TVPaint seems great so far (on the trial). A couple deal breakers linger, keeping me handcuffed to Flash. This is one:

What would TVPaint's equivalent be to symbols in Adobe Flash (a nested timeline of content that can be animated itself independently on the main timeline).

Example:
- MAIN TIMELINE: Car symbol of two characters talking. Animate that car symbol driving on a looping background.
-- CAR SYMBOL: Inside that car symbol Animate the characters. Focus on acting & performance independent of the car animation.

Suggestions?

In TVP you first animate the characters in the not-moving car. Then you use the keyframer FX to move the car around. You can save the first aniamtion in a separate file and use it later in multiple files.

For smaller actions, like flapping birdwings, a rotating wheel, etc, you can save them as animated brush and use them as source for the keyframer or place them freehandedly. Brushes can be saved and exported.
