The BG image I was given was originally a Photoshop file at those odd dimensions of 7000 x 6363, so that's what the TVPaint project file size was when I imported it to TVPaint ... Have you tried to crop the project to multiples of 32px? I vaguely remember this being important, lots of years ago. It's just a shot in the dark, tho, I never had this problem with large files of whatever odd dimensions.
I tried modifying the pixel dimensions of the project as slowtiger suggested (to a multiple of 32px ), but that did not help. For me the upper size limit is 4K to export .AVI or .MOV . If the dimensions are over 4K then I get solid black (.MOV) or frames full of digital "noise" (.AVI).Elodie wrote:Hello David : I've made deeper tests and everything work fine on my side.
Mov, Avi, compressed, uncompress, with our without camera : no issue (only a small one with AVI : when I play the file with VLC, it's a little laggy, but I don't whether the issue is from the file itself or VLC that cannot manage heavy files).
BUT here is something I discovered -- I right-clicked on the 7K .AVI file and selected Get Info ... which opens up the Get Info window , which has the little preview window of the movie . It plays fine in the small preview window, so I can see that the images are there in the .AVI file ... but the images in the .AVI will not display properly when the 7K .AVI was opened in Quicktime.
You mentioned the 7K .AVI file plays for you in VLC . I had not previously tried opening it in VLC ... it opens in VLC ! BUT as you said the playback is very laggy. It also opens in a media player called DJV , but also very laggy. Unfortunately the playback is so laggy in both VLC and DJV as to be practically worthless.
I rarely need to export above 4K , so this is not really much of an issue for me most of the time ; it was just this one special case where it was requested by a client. I ended up exporting the scene as an Image Sequence rather than .AVI or .MOV . What puzzles me is WHY the export to .AVI or .MOV (at sizes above 4K) will not work for me , but you report no problems with it on your end. Those little mysteries bother me...
