TVPaint 11.7.0 operation check

I confirmed the added features while translating the TVPaint 11.7.0 release notes.
I am aware of the below issues.

(1) If 11.5.3 is set in Japanese, it will be in English when 11.7.0 is started for the first time. (There seems to be a problem with the selector in Preferences → Basic → Language)
(2) The hotkey "select mode" only displays "next mode" in the Japanese menu.
(3) DPI is not reflected when exporting as PDF.
(4) DPI is not reflected in export using George such as tv_savedisplay, tv_clipsavestructure.

Thank you for your confirmation.

Hello Takagi-san,

Thank you for the information.
(1) If 11.5.3 is set in Japanese, it will be in English when 11.7.0 is started for the first time. (There seems to be a problem with the selector in Preferences → Basic → Language)
We will look into this, so this doesn't happen again for later releases.
(2) The hotkey "select mode" only displays "next mode" in the Japanese menu.
Thank you, we will update the localisation for the Japanese language as soon as possible.
(3) DPI is not reflected when exporting as PDF.
My apologies. The changelog we sent you was an earlier version and we later noticed that the DPI are not in the PDF export, so I edited the changelog.
(4) DPI is not reflected in export using George such as tv_savedisplay, tv_clipsavestructure.
Good catch!
I will create an entry in our list, we'll try to add it in TVPaint 11.7.1 (which we plan on releasing before the end of the year).

Thierry,
thank you for your reply.
(2) and (4) are important issues, so please be sure to address them in the next minor version upgrade.
Regarding "reading the DPI set when the image is imported", which we requested to Antoine in advance, it is also essential for us.

This will be in the next minor update, v11.7.1, which will be released before the end of the year.

I found one more problem with the export.
The following update of the release note has caused a problem for the operation so far.
When exporting named images (instances where the name is set by the user instead of the default name), the “All Images” checkbox should correctly export all images (1 frame = 1 image file).
This rule will create wasted frames in TVpaint 11.7.0 when using George "tv_ClipSaveStructure" command (export heads of the instance).
Please let me discuss whether to return to the original rule or add George's command to deal with it.

Indeed, there seem to be a small issue. I reproduced it even using the Export panel.

Just being curious: what do use the named images for ?

Good catch!
That was done on purpose: the DPI management is meant for static pictures, not for an animation sequence. What would be the need ?

Yet you're right, if the option appears it should have an effect on the exported files...

In Japanese production, the same image is often used multiple times, so we use instance name = video number (for example, 1 → 2 → 3 → 2 → 1).
The default values "1." "2." "3." "4."… will not solve this problem. I thought about solving it with XSHEET, but I gave up on that method because there are too many layers.
As a reference, I am attaching the project I made today for checking purpose (the image has been deleted).

For example, there are the following reasons.
Layout: TVPaint
Layout check: PrintOut
Key-animation: Other software
In the above case, if the DPI cannot be embedded when exporting the continuous shot image, it is necessary to embed the DPI again with another application before printing, which is currently a problem in our studio.
The above is why sequence images need to maintain DPI.

Currently working on this. Could you please try adding a "ignoreduplicateimages" "on" ?

This should be okay in the next build.

Sorry, don't bother, there's a parameter swap in the code. It should be fixed in the next build too !

I received an inquiry from a Japanese user, so please take care of it.

Hello Takagi-san,

We have released a hotfix today (https://forum.tvpaint.com/viewtopic.php ... 25#p130925) addressing these two issues:
  • (2) The hotkey "select mode" only displays "next mode" in the Japanese menu.
  • This rule will create wasted frames in TVpaint 11.7.0 when using George "tv_ClipSaveStructure" command (export heads of the instance).
The following issues will be addressed either at the end of this month or in the beginning of November:
  • (4) DPI is not reflected in export using George such as tv_savedisplay, tv_clipsavestructure.
  • Regarding "reading the DPI set when the image is imported", which we requested to Antoine in advance, it is also essential for us.
