Simplest question ever...

....but it drives me nuts!

Every once in a while--about once a year--I hit the wrong button on the keyboard and make my default white background disappear globally, replaced by the 'checkerboard' alpha channel pattern.

How do I get my white background back, globally? Without it, I have to constantly lay down a white layer in the background of every project, which is maddening!

Thanks! C

SHIFT B
is the default toggle for this

function is called "layer toggle background mode" if you want to assign a keyboard shortcut (CTRL-K)

If you don't want to learn another keyboard shortcut (and remember it until next year), there is a little menu at the bottom left of the layer menu that says "background." You can choose your background there "color" "checkboard" or "none".

Thank you thank you! About once a year, I must hit SHIFT B by mistake!

If you never use the Shift-B shortcut, the best thing to do is go to the short-cut panel, and unassign it...
