I'm having a sudden strange problem with paper. What I have been doing for hundreds of frames is making a selection filling it with the paint bucket with a solid color without paper. Then I fill the same selection with a darker color with paper. Everything was working exactly how I wanted it to, until all of a sudden the results of the second fill color while using paper became much darker. See images I want the lighter results. What did I do wrong?

Can you post a screenshot of the interface ? It's difficult to answer as there are many possibilities.

Possible mistakes:
- wrong colour chosen
- wrong colour mode chosen (like multiply)
- fill opacity changed
- layer opacity changed
- paper strength changed

Here are two screen shots from step one to step two. I will also check all the other stuff you mentioned

It's just an idea of another possible mistake:
Maybe you have filled the area accidentally a second time with the darker color.

Well not quite sure what the problem was, but I reset my paint bucket and everything seems ok now.

I would advise you to record a video of the process, with the whole interface.
